Position Summary:
The GPU, Graphics, and Displays (GGD) Test Engineering team is integral to the success and delivery of a wide array of Apple products, particularly those featuring display technologies. Our involvement spans various innovations, including Metal, Reference Mode on iPad Pro, ProMotion on iPhone and iPad, and advanced gaming capabilities on iOS/MacOS.
We collaborate closely with development teams to formulate comprehensive test strategies, execute testing protocols, and engage throughout the development lifecycle to refine testing methodologies until our products reach the hands of customers.
We are in search of a highly proficient and driven test engineering manager to oversee our GPU and Graphics Experience QA team.
Role Responsibilities:
The GPU, Graphics, and Displays team is on the lookout for a self-motivated test engineering manager who possesses a genuine enthusiasm for enhancing the macOS, iOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS user experience.
Your leadership will guide a team dedicated to working with cutting-edge Apple products, ensuring that the graphics experience remains unparalleled.
This position will primarily concentrate on managing a QA team responsible for the development and execution of both automation and functional testing aimed at supporting graphics technologies (Metal) across both new and existing hardware.
Key Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong capacity for acquiring new technical skills, possess excellent interpersonal abilities, and have a proven track record of steering complex and demanding projects.
Collaboration with engineering teams and the ability to excel under pressure are essential skills for success in this role. Experience in cross-functional collaboration, mentoring, and project leadership is also crucial.
Essential Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Proficient understanding of UNIX-based systems and command-line tools for debugging, analysis, and automation
- Passionate about customer experience
- Extensive knowledge of the QA process, with experience in manual testing, automation, and various QA methodologies
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills due to high interaction levels with engineering teams, management, and other departments
- Minimum of 3 years in a management or leadership role
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in Python and scripting, or other programming languages; Swift is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits:
At Apple, base salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package, which is determined within a specified range. This structure allows for growth and development within the role.
The salary range for this position is between $173,100 and $301,400, with actual base pay depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.Employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
