We are currently seeking dedicated interns to support our Site Engineering team during the Winter Internship program.

As the leading provider of dredging services in the United States, Great Lakes is actively expanding its core operations into the emerging offshore wind energy sector. The Company has a rich history of executing significant international projects and employs a talented workforce of civil, ocean, and mechanical engineers across various functions, including estimating, production, and project management. Our extensive fleet, the largest and most diverse in the U.S. dredging industry, consists of approximately specialized vessels. We pride ourselves on our disciplined training program that fosters practical experience and performance advancement. Safety is a core value, reflected in our Incident-and Injury-Free (IIF) safety management program, which is embedded in our organizational culture.

Key Responsibilities:

The intern's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining a safe work environment throughout all operations and tasks
  • Conducting land and hydrographic surveys for construction management
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on dredge production
  • Preparing daily dredge and quality control reports
  • Providing general support to operations and team members

Compensation and Work Schedule:

The hourly rate will vary based on educational background and relevant experience. Interns will receive 1.5 times the hourly rate for any hours worked beyond 40 hours per week. Work hours are flexible and depend on the needs of the Engineering staff and ongoing projects, typically requiring a 7-day work schedule with shifts ranging from 8 to 12 hours per day.

Internship Logistics:

The internship will commence shortly after the completion of finals. The Company will cover airfare to project sites, provide transportation via shared company vehicles or rental cars, and offer housing accommodations in the form of either a private hotel room or shared company apartment. Additionally, a daily meal allowance of $52 will be provided while on-site. The Company will arrange for the intern's return travel to their home airport prior to the start of the spring semester.

Qualifications:

We welcome applications from seniors majoring in Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management.
