Job Title: Patient Care Technician Intermediate Care Unit 3B

Sentara Healthcare is seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our team at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, located in Virginia Beach. This is a full-time, night shift position, working 7pm to 7am.

Department/Position Overview:

The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) is a 24-bed unit located on the 3rd floor at Sentara Princess Anne hospital. Our patient population consists of medical surgical patients, patients requiring Bipaps and Chronic Ventilators. We are also a Stroke Certified unit.

We are a fast-paced unit with a supportive team, and we are willing to work with students' schedules who are currently enrolled in a nursing program. As a Patient Care Technician with Sentara, you will have the opportunity to learn many new skills, from taking vitals to blood draws and daily care.

Primary Duties:
  • Support the admission/discharge process
  • Change, bathe, and ambulate patients
  • Draw blood and perform foley catheter care
  • Meet patient needs while working under the direct supervision of a nurse
Requirements:

We require one year of prior healthcare experience, American Health Associate BLS Certification within 90 days of hire, and a High School Diploma or Equivalent. Additionally, you must have one of the following certifications:

  • Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
  • Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
  • National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)
  • Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School
  • Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic
  • Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT, or PT
  • Current work experience within the last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant
