Job Description

A direct support professional plays a vital role in empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to achieve their goals, develop new skills, and live life to the fullest by providing assistance with daily living activities.

A few key responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with meal preparation and cleanup
  • Providing support with bathing and personal care
  • Helping with basic home chores, such as sweeping, mopping, and dusting
  • Assisting with laundry and household tasks
  • Offering companionship and social support
  • Accompanying individuals on errands and outings

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • At least six months of related experience in a direct support role (personal or professional)
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle with current auto insurance
  • Ability to pass a drug test and background check
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid training prior to first shift
