Position Summary

Full-Time Position: 7am - 7:30pm / 36 Hours per Week

Salary range: $16.10 - $24.96

We are looking for a Psychiatric Care Technician to join our team at Emory Saint Joseph Hospital. This role involves being a dedicated professional who prioritizes the quality of care and safety for all patients.

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist in executing interventions and activities for designated patients in both inpatient psychiatric units and outpatient settings.
  • Maintain a therapeutic rapport with patients consistently, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to professional boundaries.
  • Utilize professional training in psychology to lead or co-facilitate therapeutic groups.
  • Continuously assess patient therapy to evaluate responses to treatment plans and identify necessary adjustments.
  • Monitor vital signs and ensure accurate documentation in patient records. Collaborate with patients to establish clear and reasonable expectations in line with treatment plans.
  • Respond to critical and crisis situations promptly.
  • Attend relevant educational in-services and engage in professional activities to stay updated on current trends and practices. Document patient interventions accurately and follow departmental protocols; ensure observations are recorded appropriately in patient charts. Work collaboratively with healthcare team members to assess the appropriateness of interventions and prescribed therapies. If in an inpatient setting: Conduct scheduled patient rounds to ensure the well-being of residents. Accompany patients granted permission to leave the unit temporarily. Perform additional related duties as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field is required, with a preference for candidates with one year of psychiatric experience in inpatient or outpatient settings.
  • Three years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Must possess the physical capability to lift and manage agitated or violent patients.
