Job Description

**Job Summary**


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Structural Engineer to join our team at the City of New York. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading structural engineering projects and programs, managing inspections, consultant contracts, and technical supervision of engineering staff.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead and manage structural engineering projects and programs, ensuring timely completion and quality delivery.
  • Manage inspections, consultant contracts, and in-house assignments, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Provide technical supervision and mentoring to engineering staff, promoting quality work and professional development.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and technical quality assurance/quality control processes.
  • Perform condition surveys/assessments, background/document research, feasibility studies, scope determination, and estimates on existing or proposed infrastructure.
  • Design and prepare reports, including structural design calculations and details/drawings for filing and construction.
  • Develop requests for proposals, contracts, work orders, and other tasks related to consultant procurement.
  • Conduct field inspections before and during design and construction, identifying and resolving problems proactively.
  • Represent the engineering team within and externally to the Agency, providing subject-matter expertise.
  • Propose and develop improvements to processes and programs to advance the team's mission.
  • Complete internal administrative tasks using Parks software and other systems.

Requirements


To be considered for this role, you must have:


  • Four (4) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work.
  • A valid New York State Professional Engineer's License.
  • A master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the civil engineering experience.
  • At least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project.
