Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Cook to join our team at the Miami County Jail in Peru, IN.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and instructing meal preparations, including food preparation, baking, cooking, and clean-up.

Key qualifications include:

  • Ability to work well in a structured correctional environment.
  • Ability to read and follow company recipes.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to lead, instruct, and assist with meal preparations.

Requirements include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts - days and hours (between 9:00am - 6:00pm).
  • Clearance approval into the facility.

We offer a competitive wage and benefit package, including a $250 sign-on bonus after 90 days of employment, minimum pay starting at $18.00 an hour, 401K, paid time off, and more.

Previous food service or kitchen experience is a plus, but we can train the right person.
