The R&D Manager role at Abbott Laboratories presents a unique opportunity to drive innovation in medical device development. This position is responsible for managing and participating in the design and development of innovative medical devices or components/subsystems, in support of the company's strategic plan.

Job Description

This position utilizes multidisciplinary engineering knowledge to oversee and conduct development work as part of a major project. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and conducting empirical and experimental analysis
  • Conceptualizing new devices using material knowledge and innovative mechanical design
  • Conceiving and building prototypes
  • Working with outside consultants, vendors, and the medical community

In addition to these responsibilities, the R&D Manager will also be expected to ensure that requirements are followed, coordinate and manage resources, and support animal and bench testing and clinical evaluations.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in engineering, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in R&D engineering and related functions. Experience designing and testing medical devices, preferably interventional cardiology devices, is required. Additionally, experience with various manufacturing processes and designing for manufacturability is necessary. Project leadership and management skills are essential for this role.

Abbott Laboratories offers a competitive salary range of $125,300.00 - $250,700.00 per year.
