Job Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville, Oregon.

About the Job

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide psychiatric assessment and psychotropic medication management to mentally ill inmates within the Behavioral Health Services (BHS) of the Oregon Department of Corrections. The successful candidate will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, coordinating care with other members of the treatment team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric assessment and psychotropic medication management to mentally ill inmates
  • Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, coordinating care with other members of the treatment team
  • Develop and modify treatment plans, including further diagnostic studies, therapy, patient education, and identification of parameters for follow-up
  • Communicate orally and in writing with a variety of individuals, including health care professionals and laypersons

Requirements

  • Current Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse license issued by the Oregon State Board of Nursing
  • Current Prescriptive Authority Certification within the Oregon APRN Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Scope of Practice
  • Knowledge of psychiatric advanced practice nursing and medical principles and practices
  • Knowledge of human behavior and growth, community resources for patient referral, and therapeutic treatments

Working Conditions

The work is conducted in an adult male and/or female prison, and the successful candidate will be expected to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of patient contact. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong emphasis on communication and collaboration.
