Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a skilled Senior Naval Weapons Systems Engineer to contribute to our mission-driven team. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the operational readiness of naval forces through collaboration with a dedicated group of engineers and military professionals. You will lead a team of exceptional engineers and scientists focused on the development and testing of advanced missile defense and naval combat systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the Senior Naval Weapons Systems Engineer within our evaluation team, supporting various testing activities related to Integrated Combat System (ICS) components across multiple ship classes.
- Deliver comprehensive technical support, planning, and coordination for Combat Systems Assessments and Training (CSAT), Combat Systems Ship Qualifications and Training (CSSQT), and other related evaluations.
- Possess extensive knowledge of ICS interfaces and a thorough understanding of the electronic, electro-mechanical, and command control aspects of the systems.
- Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and risk management strategies.
- Support requirement verification through on-site testing and inspections.
- Ensure effective data management and configuration control.
- Provide technical guidance by reviewing modifications and participating in collaborative Working Groups.
- Facilitate integration and validation of mechanical, electrical, and combined systems.
- Engage in all facets of systems engineering.
- Participate in tests of land-based systems and support Combat System Interface Testing (CSIT) on board vessels.
- Contribute to special projects aimed at identifying and resolving significant operational and maintenance challenges affecting fleet effectiveness.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations, generate comprehensive reports, and communicate findings to military and civilian leadership as necessary.
- Effectively communicate both in writing and verbally with program offices, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Provide technical responses to support data requests and inquiries.
- A Master's degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 10 years of experience in US Navy ship combat systems, including Aegis Weapon System and Ballistic Missile Defense.
- Ability to work autonomously, collaboratively, or in a leadership capacity.
- Capability to apply engineering principles to resolve complex technical issues.
- Prior experience with Aegis Weapons Systems or Missile Systems Engineering is essential.
- Technical expertise in areas such as fleet operations, systems engineering, and missile systems is required.
- Familiarity with UNIX-based programming languages is advantageous.
- Experience in troubleshooting electronic components is preferred.
- An Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or Interim Top-Secret clearance is mandatory.
- This position may require travel up to 60% of the time.
- Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain necessary identification credentials for travel to secure federal facilities.
- The physical demands of this role include the ability to travel and work in shipyards and on naval vessels.
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods, with frequent walking and manual dexterity required.
- Must be capable of lifting objects up to 50 pounds and performing various physical activities.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
