Behavioral Therapist

Join ESS Education as a Behavioral Technician and play a vital role in supporting students with behavioral needs in a school setting.

The Behavioral Technician will work under the direction of a Teacher/Social Worker/BCBA to provide direct behavior support to students. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents.

• Conduct behavioral modification under the direction of the Teacher/Social Worker/BCBA
• Assist with crisis intervention and stabilization strategies as needed
• Develop and maintain a safe and nurturing environment that promotes student well-being
• Facilitate a smooth transition between activities, taking into account individual student needs
• Utilize a school-wide positive behavior system to support student behaviors
• Communicate and work cooperatively with colleagues and students to meet student needs
• Adhere to legal and ethical standards in the provision of behavioral health and educational services
• Assist with data collection and record keeping
• Document student behavior and attendance
• Understand and adhere to all ESS and BLaST Intermediate Unit policies and procedures
• Demonstrate flexibility and cooperation in performing other related duties as assigned

• Minimum of a high school diploma
• At least one year of experience working with children and/or in the education field (preferred)
• Completion of BLaST's behavior technician training and Safety Care-QBS certification
• Excellent integrity and good moral character
• Ability to provide a positive role model for students
• Ability to relate well with young and/or special needs children
• Successful experience working with students
• Effective communication skills in English, both orally and in writing
• Interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community
• Pennsylvania State Police Clearance
• Child Abuse Clearance
• FBI Fingerprinting
• School Health Form: Physical and Tuberculosis Test
• Pennsylvania Department of Education Form 6004: Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification
