Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing primary care services to our patients, including evaluating patients, developing treatment plans, and providing education on health promotion and disease prevention.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients in an outpatient clinical setting to diagnose and treat acute and chronic diseases
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on evidence-based practice
  • Provide education to patients and their families on health promotion and disease prevention
  • Manage a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions
  • Order and interpret lab tests and diagnostic studies
  • Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions
  • Initiate referrals and consults to specialty services
Requirements
  • Master's or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Active, current, full, and unrestricted APN license to practice as an NP in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
  • Basic Certification in an area of clinical specialty from a nationally recognized certifying body
  • At least one year of specialized APN experience equivalent to the Nurse II grade level
Preferred Experience

3 years of outpatient primary care experience

Working Conditions

This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations.
