Job Overview

JRAD, a leading research and development company, is seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist to join our team in Washington DC.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough analyses of environmental and air samples for chemical contamination using advanced laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain and operate Gas and Liquid Chromatography, Mass Spectrometers, and other laboratory systems, performing routine maintenance and checks as needed.
  • Manage analytical data using Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Participate in laboratory proficiency testing activities and maintain QAQC records, including performance charts, control limits, and detection and reporting limits.
  • Provide training to new staff members on the operation and use of laboratory equipment and LIMS software.
  • Adhere to strict laboratory procedures, data management practices, and safety protocols as outlined in the Laboratory Quality Assurance Plan and safety policies.
  • Support formal audits of laboratory quality control systems and practices, inspect safety protocols, and review Job Hazard Analyses.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and materials.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Over three years of experience in quantitative analysis of chemical compounds and two years of experience in screening environmental samples for toxic industrial compounds (TICs).
  • Demonstrated analytical laboratory skills through participation in a Proficiency Test, such as a Precision and Accuracy performance test or equivalent.
  • Experience with quality management standards, sample preparation methods, regulations, protocols, safety measures, and operation and maintenance of chemical laboratory instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Project, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Multiple levels of experience available, from Journeyman to Senior Chemists.
  • Minimum ten years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or six years with a Master's Degree.

The estimated salary range for this position is $80,000-$120,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. JRAD offers a comprehensive benefits package and a commitment to employee health and well-being.
