Job Summary

The Multilingual Family Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to engage and support multilingual families in the Calvert County Public Schools community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and support to schools and the district in implementing evidence-based practices that promote multilingual family engagement and student achievement.
  • Assist school teams in developing, implementing, and assessing family engagement strategies for multilingual learner families.
  • Coordinate and integrate family engagement programs and activities with other programs such as Early Childhood, Special Education, and Student Services.
  • Build a network of educators, school support staff, and community members who support and advocate for multilingual students and families.
  • Advocate for multilingual families by communicating their needs and concerns to the school and district.
  • Collaborate with schools and community partners to provide services and support to multilingual families.
  • Deliver professional learning related to cultural competency for school personnel.
  • Establish contact with statewide and local multilingual support groups to build community and increase awareness of education efforts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and/or three years of experience working with multilingual parent engagement and community involvement.
  • Coursework in education, counseling, or communications preferred.
  • Experience in working with linguistically and culturally diverse communities and families.
  • Proficient oral and literacy skills in at least one language other than English that aligns with the home languages spoken by multilingual learners and their families in CCPS.
  • Native speaker of second language preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Working Conditions

The position requires occasional evening meetings and events.

Salary and Benefits

The salary is commensurate with qualifications applied to the current salary schedule for support employees.
