As a key member of our healthcare team, the Pharmacist Per Diem Rotating Position plays a vital role in providing consultative services to medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff. This position requires a strong understanding of medication management, patient care, and teamwork.
Responsibilities- Process physician drug orders, evaluating them for safety and efficacy, and ensuring accurate computer entry and review of technician fills.
- Follow established practice standards and policies, taking necessary action when orders are not consistent.
- Record interactions with physicians and nurses regarding medication orders.
- Monitor medication orders for consistency and appropriateness, considering patient age and dosage variations.
- Provide information and answer questions on medication use, interactions, side effects, and storage.
- Dispense controlled substances, adhering to documentation and record-keeping requirements.
- Complete monthly inventory checks and area inspections, correcting noted deficiencies.
- Participate in department management, providing input at meetings and reading communication.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in patient care and departmental operations, proposing solutions and assisting in implementation.
- Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Current Pharmacist license in the State of Arizona.
- Prefer one year of acute care experience, but new graduates will be considered.
