About the Role

This position is responsible for leading a safe, quality, and age-appropriate group experience for children and families in the Prime Time program, consistent with the YMCA's core values and the needs of participants and the community.

The ideal candidate will be experienced working with youth, detail-oriented, and extremely reliable, dependable, and punctual. They will also be CPR/AED/Basic First Aid certified and able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities:

  • Inclusion - Honors the YMCA of Southern Maine's Promise Statement by creating a safe environment that helps all feel welcome and respected.
  • Programming - Assists children upon arrival to ease the transition into the program and provides effective supervision and supports safety and programming by leading and actively participating in activities with campers.
  • Leadership - Is a collaborative, engaged, and positive role model for children through good work habits, positive attitude, and respect for the YMCA's values and rules.
  • Relationship Building - Develops positive, authentic relationships within the Y that lead to greater awareness of the Y's mission and impact.
  • Operations & Safety - Ensures the health and safety of each child and follows all YMCA protocols and rules.

Requirements:

  • 16 years of age or older.
  • Experienced working with youth, preferred.
  • Detail oriented; extremely reliable, dependable, and punctual.
  • CPR/AED/Basic First Aid certified.
  • A criminal background check is required prior to hire.

Salary: $16.00 - $17.00/hour, depending on experience.
