The Team

The ML Auto team at Ohiox is responsible for building production ML models to underwrite all auto loans issued by our company. These models assess the true risk of our borrowers using the latest methodologies and are at the core of our value creation.

As a Research Scientist in ML Auto at Ohiox, you will work in a fast-paced team focused on feature research, model improvement, and model deployment. You will directly work on business-critical models, contribute to key business metrics, and tackle challenges such as:

  • Developing new model architectures
  • Understanding and developing features from new data sources
  • Understanding the impact of the macroeconomic environment on our borrowers
How You'll Make an Impact

You will autonomously develop and deploy production models, contribute to a high-quality modeling codebase in Python, quickly prototype and test ideas, research novel modeling techniques, and work collaboratively with a cross-functional team consisting of research scientists, software engineers, and product managers.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Excellent critical thinking
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline (Math, Physics, Computer Science)
  • 2+ years of experience in Machine Learning or a similar field
  • Proficiency in a programming language (Python preferred)
  • Proficiency in Statistical/Probability/Machine Learning theory
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a non-technical audience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters or PhD in a quantitative discipline (Math, Physics, Economics, Computer Science)
  • 4+ years of experience in Machine Learning or a similar field
  • Experience leading junior members in a technical team
  • Deep expertise in a programming language (Python preferred)
  • Deep expertise in Statistical/Probability/Machine Learning theory
  • Excellent communication skills to a non-technical audience
Position Location

This role is available in the following locations: Remote. Preference for the Bay Area.

Time Zone Requirements

The team operates on the East/West coast time zones.

Travel Requirements

At Ohiox, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the below range. Your actual base pay will depend on your geographic location, with our 'digital-first' philosophy, Ohiox uses compensation regions that vary depending on location. Individual pay is also determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
