Job Summary

West Tennessee Healthcare seeks a Clinical Manager to oversee the daily operations of our nursing units. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care administered to meet patient care needs.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assign and monitor patient care based on age-specific needs, assessment, acuity needs, plan of care, and competency of assigned personnel.
  • Ensure the proper segregation and safe disposal of hazardous pharmaceutical waste.
  • Participate in training, evaluate employee performance, and participate in counseling, reprimands, disciplinary actions, and dismissals for assigned personnel.
  • Respond to complaints and incidents, conduct investigations, take corrective action, and prepare documentation.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and order adequate supplies and equipment necessary for delivery of quality patient care.
  • Evaluate, interpret, and implement hospital and nursing policies and procedures for assigned unit and recommend changes as needed.
  • Inform Director of the level of care being administered and patient, personnel, and physician satisfaction.
  • Provide clinical and classroom instruction in the field of expertise as necessary, including patient and staff teaching and discharge planning.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate degree in nursing required. Additional educational preparation in administrative techniques is desirable.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse as approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing for practice in the state of Tennessee.
  • Responsible for Continuing Education Units annually.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within the orientation period, and certification must be kept current while in this position.
  • ACLS certification preferred.
  • Certification in area of clinical expertise by recognized authoritative agency desirable.
  • Additional certifications/competencies may be required at department discretion.
