Youth Services Librarian

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Youth Services Librarian I, Outreach to join our team at the Anderson County Library. This is a full-time position that requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

About the Job
The Youth Services Librarian I, Outreach will be responsible for coordinating library and literacy outreach to youth, parents, and other adults who work with youth. This includes planning age-appropriate and interactive programming for youth in the library, in schools, and at community events. The successful candidate will also carry out systematic collection development procedures for youth materials, ensuring that the collection is relevant, diverse, and meets the needs of our community.

Key Responsibilities
• Plan and conduct off-site family programs and community outreach events
• Develop and implement effective outreach strategies to reach underserved populations
• Collaborate with educators and community partners to build partnerships and promote library initiatives and services
• Evaluate present circulating collection for age, condition, and currency in assigned youth subject areas
• Select materials for the collection in assigned areas
• Maintain confidentiality of library patron records
• Provide excellent customer service to patrons

Requirements
• Master's degree in library science from an accredited university
• At least two (2) years of professional children's librarian experience preferred
• Excellent research, clerical, and computer skills
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, employees, branch managers, and system personnel
• Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one

Estimated Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
