We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nursing Assistant to join our team at GSS SD Howard Ctr in Howard, SD. As a member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents.
Job SummaryThe Nursing Assistant serves as a caregiver to our residents during scheduled work periods in long-term care. You will provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Your knowledge of and delivery of age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan is essential.
Responsibilities- Provide assistance with basic health care needs, including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned residents.
- Assist residents with meals and snacks, provide water and supplements as appropriate.
- Aid providers and nursing staff members with procedures, if needed.
- Document resident interactions as needed and the outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Communicate resident's changing condition and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse.
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational.
- Participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed.
We are looking for a candidate with a high school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care is preferred. You must be a minimum of 16 years old and have a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
