Job Summary:

The Bindery Operator is responsible for providing high-quality finishing services for press and copier projects in accordance with job specifications and company quality standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet department production and quality goals by prioritizing tasks and managing workload efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure timely completion of projects and meet customer deadlines.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance on bindery equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Communicate effectively with the production team, sales team, and management to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.
Diecutter Operations:
  • Prepare and operate die cutting equipment to meet safety and productivity standards.
  • Examine job orders to determine quantity, stock specifications, and special die cutting instructions.
  • Make necessary adjustments to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure information is communicated between shifts to maintain continuity and efficiency.
Equipment and Supplies:
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work area according to maintenance procedures.
  • Monitor and manage die cutting supplies, ordering materials as instructed.
  • Inform supervisor of equipment problems to ensure prompt resolution.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with experience or vocational/technical certification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good mathematical skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using computer systems and software.
  • 1-3 years of experience running a BOBST, Yawa, or similar automatic die cutting equipment.
Working Conditions:
  • Standing for prolonged periods of time (up to 8 hours or more per day).
  • Bending, twisting, stooping, and occasional kneeling to clear jams.
  • Frequent lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Work area with fluorescent lighting and temperature variations.
  • Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
  • Exposure to ink, chemical fumes, and airborne particles such as paper dust and drying powder.
