Forensic Engineer

J.S. Held is a global consulting firm that provides technical, scientific, financial, and strategic expertise to advise clients on high-stakes matters. We are seeking mid to senior-level forensic Civil/Structural Engineers to enhance our team and support our clients throughout the US.

• Conduct field observations, testing, and data collection to identify and analyze damage or defects in buildings and structures.
• Prepare detailed reports outlining findings, testing results, and recommendations for repair or mitigation.
• Collaborate with building departments to determine repair directives and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Develop and present technical papers and presentations to clients and peers.
• Participate in expert witness testimony and provide consultation services to clients.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
• Familiarity with modern building codes and industry standards.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Structural Engineer (S.E.) preferred, but highly qualified Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) candidates will be considered.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

• PE or SE license, with experience as an expert witness.
• Experience in engineering design or construction, with a focus on building envelope evaluation and storm damage assessment.
• Strong understanding of building codes and industry standards, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a forensic context.
