Produce Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Produce Assistant to join our team at Natural Grocers. As a Produce Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful operation and profitability of our produce department.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service: Provide World Class Customer Service as a number one priority, ensuring that every customer interaction is positive and memorable.
- Inventory Management: Assist the produce department manager in ordering for the department and maintaining accurate inventory levels, minimizing shrink and maximizing effective purchasing.
- Department Maintenance: Set and maintain the department on a daily basis, ensuring that the produce rack is consistently fresh, full, and abundant throughout the day.
- Produce Handling: Cull, crisp, rotate, and properly handle and store produce, ensuring that all in-stock products meet company standards.
- Special Orders: Offer and follow up on special orders, ensuring that customers receive the products they need.
- Training and Development: Assist in training and monitoring department personnel, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
- Register Functions: Handle register functions, including backup cashiering, managing customer returns, addressing customer complaints, and covering register shift changes.
- Safety and Security: Maintain the safety and security of customers and employees, ensuring that the store is a safe and welcoming environment.
- Education: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: 1 year of experience in grocery, retail, or produce environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
- Skills: Excellent customer service skills, ability to manage changing priorities, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
