Overview

Position at SBM Management Services. We are currently seeking a Waste Management Specialist. The primary responsibility of this role is to maintain cleanliness and organization in designated recycling and reuse material zones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, recover, and categorize reusable or recyclable materials, including but not limited to: Paper, Cardboard, Packaging Materials, Scrap Metal, Glass, etc.
  • Operate machinery such as: Compactors, Vertical Balers, Forklifts, Tuggers, Shredders, etc.
  • Utilize various collection containers including ropaks, gaylords, iatas, gondolas, and others.
  • Examine materials and classify items based on type, size, condition, color, markings, or other distinguishing features.
  • Measure and document the weight of materials and containers, maintaining accurate records of total waste collected.
  • Clean and collect litter around waste disposal areas, utility courtyards, and perimeter fences.
  • Occasionally oversee hazardous waste collection zones or manage hazardous waste (less than 33% of the workday).

Qualifications

  • Professional Appearance – Adhere to the SBM standard uniform and maintain good personal hygiene.
  • Positive Attitude – Exhibit a friendly and approachable demeanor, showing respect and making eye contact.
  • Responsiveness – Demonstrate a proactive approach to requests and take pride in your work.
  • Equipment Maintenance – Keep your tools and workspace organized and well-maintained.
  • Experience – Six months to one year of recycling experience in a corporate setting or equivalent training.
  • Education – High School diploma or GED preferred, or a suitable combination of training and experience.
  • Safety Training – Completion of all necessary safety and task training certifications.
  • Communication Skills – Ability to read and interpret safety guidelines, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Interpersonal Skills – Capable of effectively communicating with customers, colleagues, contractors, and team members.

Work Schedule: Day Shift, Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 3:30 PM
