Position Overview: Office Adjuster
Location: Waynesville, NC
Department: Claims
Reports To: District Claims Manager
General Responsibilities:
The Office Adjuster is responsible for investigating, assessing, and negotiating settlements for various types of claims, including compensation, collision, auto, and property damage. Communication is primarily conducted via telephone and written correspondence, ensuring no questionable liability settlements are made.
Required Qualifications:
A four-year college degree or equivalent business experience is essential. Familiarity with legal principles is advantageous, along with strong oral and written communication skills. The ability to interact effectively with clients in high-pressure situations is crucial. Continuous education must be maintained in accordance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply policy contracts to reported claims.
- Initiate contact with insured parties or claimants within 24 to 48 hours of receiving a loss notice.
- Assess damages through collaboration with field adjusters, appraisers, and other relevant parties.
- Establish and update reserves as necessary.
- Evaluate legal liability and damages related to claims.
- Maintain comprehensive records of loss adjustments.
- Prepare detailed reports as directed.
- Adhere to a work schedule determined by the District Claims Manager.
- Facilitate the payment or denial of claims.
- Support the District Claims Manager in overall claims operations.
Qualifications for Senior Office Adjuster:
To qualify as a Senior Office Adjuster, candidates must receive recommendations from the District Claims Manager and Regional Claims Manager. A minimum of five years of experience in roles such as Claims Representative, Field Adjuster, or Office Claims Representative with Ncfbins is required. Successful completion of all sections for the Associate in Claims (AIC) designation and relevant courses is necessary.
