The Neuropsychologist is responsible for delivering psychological counseling and conducting assessments within an outpatient setting. This role involves performing evaluations and tests for individual, family, and group therapy. The Neuropsychologist will also coordinate and execute treatment plans, providing crisis intervention when necessary. Services are offered to a diverse range of clients, including adults, adolescents, children, families, and couples, utilizing the knowledge and skills required to cater to the specific needs of each age group. In collaboration with psychiatrists, the Neuropsychologist will adopt a team-based approach to patient care, adhering to the professional and ethical standards established by mental health organizations.

WORKING SCHEDULE:

  • Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • No on-call duties, weekends, or holiday shifts
  • Option to work remotely one day per week

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exhibit proficiency in assessment, treatment modalities, and communication tailored to the age of the patients served.
  • Conduct empirical research on behavioral patterns and cognitive processes.
  • Observe and interview clients, documenting interactions accurately.
  • Investigate psychological, emotional, behavioral, or organizational trends and identify underlying issues.
  • Diagnose potential psychological disorders.
  • Discuss treatment options with clients.
  • Research and compose scholarly articles on clinical psychology topics.
  • Deliver appropriate therapeutic services to assigned clients, utilizing interventions that align with accepted mental health care standards and reflect the treatment plan. Provide crisis management for assigned cases and offer support for the program as needed.
  • Maintain the required number of weekly client hours as per departmental standards.
  • Participate as a member of the treatment team, staying current with psychological theories and practices. Attend clinical supervision and staff meetings, coming prepared. Keep up-to-date with professional literature and trends in mental health. Engage in continuing education activities to uphold evidence-based practices and licensure.
  • Ensure effective communication with relevant staff and agencies involved in case management, adhering to signed release agreements.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided to clients, ensuring compliance with QA & I, state, and Joint Commission guidelines. Produce evaluation reports that clearly address referral reasons and provide well-organized clinical recommendations. Complete progress notes, reports, and correspondence promptly.
  • Demonstrate self-management in executing all responsibilities.
  • Administer client satisfaction assessments as required by departmental protocols.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments during intake sessions and as necessary thereafter.
  • Support community initiatives by presenting at support groups, educating on mental wellness topics, and conducting stress management workshops as assigned.
  • Provide psychological services, including psychotherapy via telehealth platforms as assigned.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of a Clinical PsyD or PhD in Clinical Psychology or a related field.
  • Preference for candidates who have graduated from a Neuropsychological curriculum.
  • Preferred completion of a rehabilitation psychology or neuropsychology internship, along with two years of postdoctoral experience.
  • Clinical training must encompass diagnostic competencies and clinical interventions that align with current care standards.
  • Must possess knowledge in Neuropsychological Assessment and psychological evaluations related to psychiatric diagnoses.
  • Experience in outpatient evaluations, Neuropsychological Testing, report writing and interpretation, feedback, and therapy is essential.
  • Capability to perform pre-surgical epilepsy evaluations and potentially Wada's tests is required.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Effective communication skills (both verbal and written) are essential. Positive interpersonal skills are necessary. The role involves sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods. Light lifting may be required, and participation in therapeutic recreational activities is possible.

Ability to sit for up to 8 hours per day; 3 hours at a time. Stand for up to 8 hours per day; 8 hours at a time. Walk for up to 6 hours per day. Frequently lift, carry, and push objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Rarely lift, carry, and push objects weighing up to 75 pounds. Frequently stoop, bend, reach above shoulder level, and handle objects with a firm grasp, twisting and turning as necessary for procedures. Must be able to perceive attributes of objects through touch, hear normal conversations and varying frequencies, see for general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision, and speak clearly for conversations and presentations.
