Family Recovery Mentor

Morrison Child and Family Services seeks a dedicated individual to join our Parent Mentor Program. As a Family Recovery Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting parents in their journey towards recovery.
The ideal candidate will have personal experience with addiction recovery and a closed DHS Child Welfare case. This unique perspective will enable you to empathize with and guide parents as they navigate the child welfare system.
Job Summary:We are looking for a compassionate and skilled individual to match with parents currently entering the Child Welfare system. The Family Recovery Mentor will empower and coach parents through their case with ODHS, support them at family meetings and court hearings, drive parents to appointments in Multnomah County, connect parents to culturally specific resources, and provide support for other mentors on the team.
This is a full-time, in-person position requiring regular travel within Tillamook County. The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license and personal auto liability insurance.
Responsibilities:- Develop trusting relationships with child welfare-involved parents by providing regular contact and support.
- Attend court and/or meetings with ODHS to advocate for parents' needs.
- Build relationships with ODHS Child Welfare staff, treatment services, and dependency court systems to promote positive partnerships.
- Communicate effectively with ODHS staff and caseworkers to ensure parents receive necessary support.
- Cultivate knowledge of effective, culturally relevant practices to engage families of the assigned client population.
- Personal experience with addiction issues.
- Minimum 2 years in active recovery from using alcohol and other drugs.
- Personal experience of a closed ODHS Child Welfare case (at least 1 year).
- High School Diploma or equivalent, or high school level writing and reading skills.
Morrison Child and Family Services offers a competitive salary range of $21.64-$23.02 per hour ($23.59-$25.10 for bilingual candidates).
