Job Summary

As a skilled Trades Specialist at Miami University, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our campus facilities. This position requires a high level of expertise in HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, and construction techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review job orders and blueprints to determine the best approach for each project
  • Estimate material and equipment needs, and arrange for delivery to the job site
  • Perform complex repairs and installations on university facilities and property
  • Assist outside contractors and other trades personnel as needed
  • Maintain and clean tools and equipment, and ensure a clean and organized work area
Requirements
  • 9 months of training beyond high school in a skilled trade, and 2 years of experience in that trade, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Driver's license required
  • EPA Universal Certification required for AQT positions
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent standing, walking, climbing, and lifting of materials weighing 50-75 pounds. You will also be operating equipment and working in somewhat unpleasant conditions. Some exposure to unpleasant elements and personal risk is possible.
