Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Fleet and Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at Tucson Unified School District. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining light, medium, and heavy vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Repair and maintain light, medium, and heavy vehicles and equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and tire rotations
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues
  • Ensure all vehicles and equipment are in safe working condition
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve departmental goals
Requirements
  • Four years of skilled automotive or equipment repair experience
  • At least two (2) Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certificates
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Arizona Dept. of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) emissions certification
  • Electrical and air conditioning services ASE certificate
Additional Requirements
  • FBI fingerprint background check
  • Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
  • Physical Examination with lift test (Category B)
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL), with Air Brake endorsement within 10 days of hire
  • Arizona Dept. of Transportation (ADOT) Medical Certificate and ADEQ emissions testing certificate within 180 days of hire
