Adjunct Faculty in Bioengineering

The Department of Bioengineering at George Mason University is a dynamic and growing academic unit with a strong research focus. Our faculty members are engaged in cutting-edge research in areas such as biomedical imaging and devices, computational biomedicine, biomaterials and nanomedicine, and neurotechnology and computational neuroscience.
We have a thriving undergraduate program with over 250 students and a graduate program with over 50 students. Our department has several partnerships with regional centers, including the Inova Center for Personalized Health, which includes the Center for Surgery and Bioengineering Research and the Genomics and Bioinformatics Research Institute.
About the PositionWe are seeking adjunct faculty members to teach required and elective courses in bioengineering, including introduction to bioengineering, imaging, bioinstrumentation, biomechanics, and computational methods. Courses will be offered on the Fairfax campus during daytime or evening hours.

- Computational Methods in Bioengineering Lab
- Biomedical Imaging

- Advanced Biomedical Imaging
- Multi-scale Modelling and Simulation in Biomedicine
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing and teaching assigned courses at assigned class meetings
- Preparing and objectively grading class assignments and exams
- Maintaining accurate, transparent student records
- Assisting and fostering student success through the maintenance of regularly scheduled office hours and timely responses to inquiries
- Adhering to all administrative university policies
- Maintaining appropriate professional development to stay current within assigned courses
- Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics
The successful candidate must have:
- A master's degree in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, or a closely related field
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Preferred qualifications include:
- A terminal degree in bioengineering or a related field
- Teaching experience at the collegiate level
- Teaching and/or professional expertise in one or more of the following areas: clinical biomedical engineering, bioinstrumentation, imaging, computational biomedicine, biomaterials, tissue engineering, biotechnology, nanomedicine, biomechanics, bioinformatics, biomedical signal processing, and physiological modeling
- Experience with a learning management system, preferably Blackboard
