Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, responding to their inquiries, and resolving any issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Operate a cash register accurately and efficiently, handling cash, credit card transactions, and making change as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment by restocking shelves, sweeping and mopping floors, and cleaning equipment and surfaces.
  • Prepare food items, such as sandwiches, salads, and desserts, according to company standards.
  • Set up, maintain, and break down salad bars, as well as perform cleaning duties such as washing dishes and emptying trash cans.
  • Wrap menu items, such as sandwiches and hot entrees, for serving, takeout, and deliveries.
  • Scrub and polish counters, steam tables, and other equipment, and clean glasses, dishes, and beverage station equipment.
  • Brew coffee and tea, and fill containers with requested beverages.
  • Take orders and correctly enter ordered items into the POS system, accept payment, and make change.
  • Serve salads and prepared food items, ladle soups and sauces, and portion desserts.
  • Slice deli meat, cheeses, vegetables, and other items according to company guidelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of all brands offered, including gluten-free options.
  • Properly portion products, beverages, and paper supplies.
  • Maintain dining room cleanliness and package orders for dine-in, pick-up, and delivery.
  • Accurately ring up orders and make change.
  • Assure responsibility for all cash, coupons, and promotions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the restaurant.
  • Follow all federal and state mandates regarding the sale of alcohol.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a retail, customer service, or restaurant environment.
  • Basic knowledge of cash register functions.
  • Ability to read company materials, such as recipes, charts, and training materials.
  • Successfully completed East Bay Deli training program.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach to receive inventory, stock, serve customers, and clean the store.
  • Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk on a hard surface for up to 12 hours a day.
  • Ability to quickly identify safety placards and hazardous situations to avoid or minimize injuries.
  • Ability to identify food quality through taste, texture, color, and odor.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
