The Clinical Care Coordinator plays a vital role in assisting healthcare providers as they evaluate, examine, and treat patients. Key responsibilities encompass managing patient flow and conducting various diagnostic tasks such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and recording vital signs. This position serves as a crucial link between patients and healthcare providers to ensure a high level of patient satisfaction. Additionally, the role involves maintaining and ordering necessary supplies for the clinical area.
- Engages with colleagues, visitors, and other staff in alignment with the core values of Thomas Jefferson University.
- Guides patients to examination rooms while ensuring accurate identification.
- Records and documents vital signs, clinical care quality metrics, and medical history details.
- Stays updated and proficient in the use of information technology systems relevant to the established scope of practice.
- Assists healthcare providers during examinations and various diagnostic procedures, which may include performing EKGs and venipuncture/injections, ensuring quality care for patients.
- Complies with HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
- Manages clinical supply orders to maintain inventory and support seamless office operations.
Required Qualifications
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong communication and organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Understanding of medical office protocols.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Medical Assistant Certification must be acquired within six months of employment.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required within 90 days of employment. BLS from the American Red Cross may be acceptable at certain locations.
- Previous experience in a physician's office or healthcare environment is preferred.
- For New Jersey Applicants Only: Must be a graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting program with a minimum of 330 hours of instruction, including training in administering intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
- For Internal Applicants Only: Medical Assistant certification is not required for current employees in a Medical Assistant role who were hired prior to a specified date when transferring within the organization.
Employment Conditions
Covid Vaccination is a prerequisite for employment at Thomas Jefferson University for individuals working in clinical settings. Candidates not currently vaccinated must receive the vaccination prior to their start date unless they obtain an approved medical or religious exemption.
Background Checks
Given that this position involves regular interaction with children in care, guidance, supervision, or training, candidates must fulfill the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, which includes a Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, a Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse clearance, and an FBI fingerprint-based federal criminal records check. Employment will commence only after all three checks are satisfactorily completed.
