Job Title: Assistant Civil Engineer

Join Burns & McDonnell as an Assistant Civil Engineer and contribute to the creation of world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments. As a key member of our project teams, you will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer to develop innovative solutions that meet budget constraints, design factors, and client needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop design criteria requirements for transmission line design
  • Model transmission lines in 3D modeling software
  • Determine geometry, loads, and performance requirements for transmission line structures
  • Coordinate strength and geometry requirements for wire support hardware assemblies
  • Assist in construction execution, including development of civil construction specifications, cost estimate preparation, and survey coordination
  • Support ad hoc projects as assigned by managers
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of standard civil engineering techniques, principles, and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and civil analysis programs
