Patient Care Coordinator

At UnitedHealth Group, we are committed to delivering high-quality patient care and improving health outcomes. As a Patient Care Representative, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional service to our patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:- Registration and Scheduling: Communicate directly with patients and families to complete the registration process, collecting demographic and health information, and verifying insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Data Entry and Verification: Utilize computer systems to enter, access, or verify patient data in real-time, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
- Insurance and Financial Verification: Gather necessary clinical information and process referrals, pre-certification, pre-determinations, and pre-authorizations according to insurance plan requirements.
- Financial Collections: Collect patient co-pays and conduct conversations with patients on their out-of-pocket financial obligations.
- Account Resolution: Identify outstanding balances from patient visits and attempt to collect any amount due.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Collect data directly from patients and referring provider offices to confirm and create scheduled appointments for patient services prior to hospital discharge.
- Customer Service: Respond to patient and caregiver inquiries related to routine and sensitive topics in a compassionate and respectful manner.
- Reporting and Analysis: Generate, review, and analyze patient data reports, following up on issues and inconsistencies as necessary.
Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 1+ years of customer service experience in a hospital, office setting, or similar environment.
- Availability: Ability to work any 8-hour shift between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM or 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM, with rotating weekends every other weekend, including occasional overtime.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Medical Knowledge: Working knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of insurance policies and procedures.
- Financial Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments and experience in requesting and processing financial payments.
Work Environment:
- Physical Demands: Standing for long periods of time (10 to 12 hours) while using a workstation on wheels and phone/headset.
