Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the Mount Sinai Health System. As a Registered Nurse Practitioner engaged to work on an as-needed basis for patient care delivery, you will be responsible for assessing the health status of patients by means of comprehensive health history and physical examinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Interprets diagnostic findings and accordingly alters plan of care including but not limited to prescribing and altering medication regimens and blood tests according to agreed-upon collaborative practice agreement and protocols in designated area.
- Provides teaching and counseling in areas of health promotion and maintenance and in disease prevention in collaboration with Stroke Center Director and other Stroke Team members.
- Clearly and comprehensively documents findings and plan of care in patient's medical record, including but not limited to consultations, daily progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Collaborates with Stroke Center medical director, ED, and ICU providers regarding safe transfer of stroke patients to higher level of clinical care as deemed necessary.
- Maintain knowledge current by self-directed learning and attendance at educational Programs and at least 8 hours of CME credits in stroke care management, prevention and related areas per year.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
- Current ED / Critical Care / Acute Care experience
- Previous progressive experience relevant to area of clinical practice
- Acute Care Physical & Neuro assessment skills
- Expert in placement of peripheral IV placement
