About Our Practice:

At Bark City Veterinary Specialists, our goal is to collaborate with local veterinarians to ensure pets receive the highest standard of care. As a veterinary-owned Specialty and Urgent Care Hospital, we pride ourselves on our cooperative approach, working alongside family veterinarians to offer specialized and urgent care services that enhance the health and quality of life for pets.

Our operational hours include weekends, with plans to expand to Friday evenings. We are committed to delivering quality care during these hours.

We Are Looking For:

Compassionate, motivated, and team-oriented Veterinary Technicians and Assistants who thrive in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates will possess a strong ability to adapt to changing situations and maintain focus while delivering excellent service.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Emergency and specialty training is advantageous.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Experience in monitoring anesthetic patients (ECG, SPO2, ETCO2).
  • Ability to correlate clinical signs with disease processes to assist in patient care.
  • Radiology skills, including proper positioning for imaging.
  • Experience in preparing animals for surgical procedures.
  • Administering medications and treatments for hospitalized patients.
  • Knowledge of bandaging and splinting techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing excellent client service.
  • Restraint of patients during examinations and procedures.
  • Inducing and monitoring anesthesia.
  • Applying bandages and splints.
  • Conducting wound care.
  • Cleaning and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in the hospital environment.
  • Ensuring treatment and operating rooms are stocked and sanitized.
  • Preparing and administering medications.
  • Collecting and processing samples for testing.
  • Communicating effectively with pet owners regarding treatment and recovery.
  • Performing administrative tasks such as client check-ins and payment processing.
  • Maintaining continuing education requirements if a licensed technician.
  • Adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in veterinary technology or animal science is a plus.
  • Interest in pursuing a Registered Veterinary Technician designation is beneficial.
  • Experience in animal care or clinic settings is preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Basic understanding of animal behavior and healthcare.
  • Passion for working with animals and their families.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Attention to detail for accurate record-keeping.
  • Physical capability to manage larger animals when necessary.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems is advantageous.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Comfortable with various aspects of veterinary medicine, including anatomy, pharmacology, and surgical support.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic.
