Job Summary:

The Direct Care Worker (DCW) provides clients with various personal care and homemaker/companion services in accordance with an established plan of care so that they can remain in their residence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, nail/skin care, back care, foot care, shampoo, oral hygiene, ambulation, transfers, range of motion exercise, safe use of equipment and assistive devices, change of position, with toileting, commode, incontinent care, meal planning, preparation, and assistance with feeding.
  • Provide companionship and respite services for family members.
  • Perform homemaking activities, including vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry, and cleaning bathrooms.
  • Assist with medication administration under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Successful completion of a state-approved Direct Care Worker or Home Health Aide course.
  • Listing in good standing on the Pennsylvania Aide Registry.
  • Achievement of a minimum score of 80% on the competency exam (Home Health Aide Test).
  • Passing criteria on the DEARS Ethics test.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to adequate transportation.
