The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locksmith Assistant to join its team. As a Locksmith Assistant, you will play a critical role in maintaining the security and integrity of the University's key and lock systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of locks and key systems
  • Perform locksmith duties, including cutting keys, working with BEST cores, and installing locks
  • Assist with Masterkey systems in new construction and renovations
  • Provide excellent customer service to customers
  • Recordkeeping and basic filing
  • Maintaining inventory
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work space
  • Assist with special projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Basic computer expertise, including knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work at Mason's satellite campuses and outside of normal working hours to meet operational needs
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery
  • Ability to be subjected to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Comfortable with climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crunching, crawling, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work well independently after initial training
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of people
  • Successful completion of a polygraph examination, thorough background check, and fingerprinting
  • No felony convictions or convictions of misdemeanors involving crimes of moral turpitude or gross misconduct
  • Valid driver's license
