Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our Richmond Personal Injury Team. This is a full-time, in-office position that offers a highly competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of litigation experience in a law firm setting and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience using legal case management software is necessary, with knowledge of SmartAdvocate being a major plus.

About the Role

As a Litigation Paralegal, you will play a vital role in our cases, working closely with our attorneys and clients. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining consistent and thorough client communication
  • Conducting investigative work, including interviewing witnesses and collecting documents
  • Submitting FOIA requests to government entities
  • Working with vendors to collect medical and billing records
  • Reviewing medical records and bills, logging them to our case management system
  • Ensuring clients receive proper and consistent medical care
  • Collecting information on lost wages and income
  • Communicating with adjusters, opposing counsel, court personnel, medical providers, experts, and vendors
  • Participating in weekly team meetings and conducting monthly file reviews with assigned attorneys
  • Performing legal research using Lexis and other platforms
  • Drafting pleadings, scheduling hearings and trials, and managing electronic case files

You will be responsible for preparing attorneys for hearings, depositions, and trial, as well as tracking deadlines and calendar events.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of two years of litigation experience in a law firm setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience using legal case management software, preferably SmartAdvocate
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • A strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
