Job Summary:

As a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, you will be responsible for conducting sleep studies, setting up and calibrating polysomnography equipment, and analyzing data to identify sleep disorders. You will work closely with sleep physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans and educate patients about sleep disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and calibrate polysomnography equipment for sleep studies
  • Attach electrodes and sensors to monitor brain activity, eye movement, muscle activity, heart rate, and breathing patterns
  • Ensure patient comfort and explain the sleep study procedure to patients
  • Continuously observe and record physiological data during the sleep study
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with equipment as needed
  • Analyze and score sleep stages, identifying abnormalities such as sleep apnea and hypopneas
  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing sleep study findings
  • Educate patients about sleep disorders, treatment options, and lifestyle changes
  • Maintain, calibrate, and sanitize sleep study equipment and work areas
  • Document all aspects of the sleep study, including patient history and data analysis
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality requirements
  • Collaborate with sleep physicians and other healthcare professionals on patient care and treatment plans
  • Stay current with advancements in sleep medicine and polysomnography techniques through ongoing education
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Sleep Technologist
  • RPSGT or CPSGT certification
  • BLS from AHA
