Overview of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Role

Wayspring is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our interdisciplinary care team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals struggling with substance use disorder.

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for conducting comprehensive health assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing medication management services to patients enrolled in our Substance Use Disorder Home solution. You will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team, including Primary Care Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Care Navigators, and Therapists, to ensure seamless care coordination and optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and develop treatment plans for patients with substance use disorder
  • Provide medication management services, including medication reconciliation and monitoring
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure seamless care coordination and optimal patient outcomes
  • Participate in rounds, health plan client-facing meetings, and other areas where nursing support is needed
  • Develop and implement routine monitoring plans to follow patients with critical indicators
  • Assist the team in developing care plans for patients with complex needs
  • Provide education on patient behavioral health medical conditions, preventative care, and medication adherence compliance
Requirements and Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in nursing
  • Board certification from the AANP or ANCC as a PMHNP with a minimum of one year experience in psychiatric and primary care or substance use treatment
  • Passionate about helping the Medicaid population and individuals with substance use disorder
  • Previous or current credentialing through Medicare, Medicaid, or other commercial insurance plans
  • Holds and maintains an unrestricted DEA
  • Willingness to be current with all state and federal training requirements related to the prescribing of MAT
  • Participates in after-hours team support rotation
  • Must be able to participate in Medicaid and become credentialed with designated health plans
  • Intermediate technology skills, including MS Office and EMR systems
