Role Overview
Wheels Up Private Jets, a wholly owned subsidiary of Wheels Up, offers services that encompass Private Membership, Aircraft Management, Maintenance, FBO services, Charter Operations, and Aircraft sales. This role presents an exciting opportunity to join a team rich in expertise and dedicated to delivering service excellence across diverse sectors, from military operations to ultra-high-net-worth individuals.
We are seeking a skilled Aircraft Structures Technician to become part of our passionate team in Teterboro, NJ. This position is integral to our mission of democratizing private aviation through innovative technology and exceptional product and service offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate sheet metals for the replacement of worn aircraft components, including flight control surfaces, fuel cell maintenance, and windshield replacements, adhering to strict dimensional tolerances and FAA maintenance bulletins based on provided engineering blueprints.
- Utilize gas-based arc welding equipment, brazing tools, and other prescribed maintenance instruments effectively.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of quality tools necessary for assigned tasks.
- Remove damaged or worn aircraft sheet metal and structural components.
- Cut, trim, bend, and smooth sheet metal parts, ensuring proper fit within specified tolerances.
- Interpret engineering blueprints and specifications to determine layouts and operational sequences.
- Complete assigned tasks accurately and promptly, following established policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Required Inspection item procedures and notify the appropriate personnel upon task completion.
- Follow procedures outlined in the aircraft manufacturer's maintenance manuals.
- Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned by supervisory staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a current FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
- Valid driver's license.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in sheet metal work and fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret aircraft drawings and schematics.
- Must provide a minimum set of personal tools.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to work in environments with varying climate conditions and moderate noise levels.
- Strong judgment skills in both team settings and aircraft maintenance contexts.
- Effective problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Capability to read and understand company and manufacturer manuals.
- Ability to perform all line maintenance functions independently.
- Physical capability to lift and move items weighing 70 pounds or more regularly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to bend, squat, and stand for extended periods.
