Job Summary

The System Applications Engineer will provide equipment designs, component selections, and performance information for potential sales. Guide equipment orders through the pre-sale process through production release. Provide training and direction to build technical skills within the Application Engineering group.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide pre-sale technical support to sales team for customers to review, understand, and develop technical requirements.
  • Analyze and determine engineering configurations and changes needed to fulfill customer's requirements for equipment.
  • Review final equipment proposals for technical validity, overall solution design, and validation of equipment configurations with the customer and company representative.
  • Provide technical planning and project management for assigned projects.
  • Represent customer's interests throughout applications and manufacturing process.
  • Provide costing estimates for special features and components that are required for specific projects.
  • Coordinate the generation of submittal documentation and other project documentation.
  • Assist with definition and implementation of customer witness testing, when required.
  • Develop the skills to provide energy analysis and other total cost of ownership metrics for projects that require it.
  • Guide the training of Applications Engineers.
  • Review their work and provide input for their development of skills in unit design.

  • Detail Engineering (weekly)
  • Product Engineering (weekly)
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3+ years of experience design and engineering for HVAC products
  • Thorough understanding of psychrometric, fan technologies, direct expansion, chilled water, and evaporative cooling technologies.
  • Ability to provide training and direction in developing skills within SAE Support Engineering group.
  • Autodesk AutoCAD 2d skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills, ability to multitask, detail oriented.
