The Lucas County Coroner's office is seeking a highly skilled Forensic Toxicology Technician to join their team. This role will be responsible for performing administrative duties, sample accessioning and handling, and qualitative analysis for drugs and alcohol.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Filing and maintenance of short/long term storage record retention
  • Retrieving data for statistical purposes and other basic administrative tasks
  • Phone call triage, shipment of sample collection kits, and sending of final reports
  • Monitoring custodial equipment and/or supply needs
  • Temperature logs, glassware cleaning, operation and routine maintenance of the GC/MS, Immunoassay analyzers, and other applicable analyzers
  • Validity, sample corrections, chain of custody, and short/long term storage
  • Preparing, packaging, and transferring or shipping samples requiring analytical testing outside of LCCO Toxicology scope of testing
  • Performing qualitative screening analysis for drugs and alcohol utilizing standard operating procedures

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Forensic Science, preferably with a concentration in Toxicology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field
  • Two years of laboratory experience
