Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Underground Civil Foreman to join our construction team at HHS Construction, a Congruex company. This role involves supervising and coordinating the activities of workers engaged in underground construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget.


Responsibilities
  • Supervise the layout, assembly, and installation of duct and vault systems for private and public customers, following prevailing and standard wage guidelines.
  • Manage daily activities of 1-2 crews, utilizing heavy equipment and trucking to excavate, install, and complete projects.
  • Inspect work sites regularly to identify potential hazards or safety concerns, maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to state, federal, OSHA, and HHS safety policies.
  • Submit daily documentation, including time sheets and DVIRs, and travel to job sites as required.

Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a valid CA Driver's License must be held.
  • 3-5 years of experience in underground dry utilities is necessary, along with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions and operate backhoes, loaders, excavators, asphalt rollers, and other heavy equipment with CAT and DEERE controls.
  • The successful candidate will have experience digging underground utilities, locating and sonding duct structures, and reading construction drawings and prints.
  • A positive attitude and openness to trying new approaches are essential, as is alignment with the GRIT values: Guts, Reliability, Innovation, and Teamwork.

Working Conditions
  • This role requires working outdoors in inclement weather conditions, lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 100 pounds, and maintaining visual and audible contact with crew members and moving objects.
  • Physical demands include standing or walking for extended periods, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting in awkward positions.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to ascend and descend ladders, wear safety gear, and perform physically demanding tasks for long periods.
