Construction Inspector

The City of Balch Springs is seeking a skilled Construction Inspector to ensure the integrity of its water and sewer systems. This role involves inspecting new and existing lines, connections, and grease traps to ensure compliance with city regulations and maintain the quality and safety of the infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of water and sewer lines, tie-ins, and backflow devices.
- Manage grease trap inspections and samplings, enforcing city codes and writing surcharge letters for violations.
- Complete the industrial waste report for the City of Dallas and conduct storm drain inspections.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five years field inspection or water maintenance work.
- Class D Water Distribution License and Class D Wastewater License.
- Customer Service Inspection certification.
- Licensed Backflow inspector by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
- A valid Texas driver's License.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to extreme elements, including extreme heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, noise intensity level, moving mechanical parts/hazards, dirt/dust, and odors.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and trenches.
- Constant use of protective personnel equipment, including footwear, eyewear, and reflective clothing.
