Job Summary

The Observational Sitter is a non-clinical role that provides bed-side observation and assistance while monitoring all activity of a specific patient in a hospital or medical center. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a pleasant and professional demeanor with all patients, co-workers, and clients.
  • Remain at the bedside of assigned patients at all times unless relieved by an appropriate staff member.
  • Verbally calm and/or reorient patients in cases of agitation or confusion.
  • Remove visible hazards and/or broken equipment from the immediate environment and report to the Guest Service Captain or Account Manager as appropriate.
  • Assist with keeping patient rooms clean, safe, and orderly.
  • Acknowledge and greet patients with a professional and friendly demeanor.
  • Answer the telephone promptly and politely, within client/Towne Health standards.
  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to assist others.
  • Respond to emergencies by immediately alerting nursing staff.
  • Practice proper client and/or Towne Health phone etiquette.
  • Assist patients' visitors with directions, information, and other general inquiries, as appropriate.
  • Ensure that patient and business confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Deliver messages, items, and/or amenities as requested.
  • Attend to the various non-clinical needs of patients. May perform basic functions in patients' rooms, such as providing water, and alerting the nursing staff immediately if a medical emergency or irregular behavior is identified.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); AND a minimum of one month previous experience working with patients or related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • For insurance purposes, must be at least 18 years of age and be able to pass a criminal background and drug screen.

Benefits

  • Towne Park offers competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate's job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location. The hourly base pay range for this position is $15-$17.50.
  • The work schedule for this position is day shift (6:30 a.m.-3 p.m.), evening shift (2:30 p.m.-11 p.m.), and overnight shift (10:30 p.m.-7 a.m.).
  • Employees accrue 0.0192 hours of PTO per hour worked up to a maximum of 40 hours per calendar year. Employees accrue 0.02 hours of floating holiday per hour worked up to a maximum of 32 hours per calendar year.
  • Employees are eligible to enroll in accident insurance, critical illness insurance, hospital indemnity insurance, and telemedicine benefits. Employees are also able to enroll in the company's 401k retirement savings plan.
