Job Summary

Tipton Place is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Medication Assistant to join our team. As a Caregiver/Med Tech, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our residents, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Caregiver:
    • Provide hands-on care and support to residents, including assistance with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
    • Observe and report any changes in residents' conditions, including skin, behavior, and physical health.
    • Respond promptly to resident call bells and security system alerts.
    • Notify supervisors and Health Care Coordinators of any changes in residents' care needs.
    • Assist with continence management and maintain a clean and safe environment.
    • Serve and collect food trays, and report any meal refusals or changes in appetite.
    • Maintain the cleanliness of residents' rooms and work areas.
    • Practice good standard care precautions, including cleanliness, hygiene, and health.
    • Help residents maintain independence and promote their dignity and physical safety.
    • Assist residents with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, and eating.
    • Engage residents in life skills and other life enrichment activities.
    • Greet and assist all internal and external customers, guests, family members, residents, vendors, and team members.
    • Perform resident laundry as assigned and needed.
  • Medication Tech Duties:
    • Review service plans to learn pertinent information about residents.
    • Assist and observe medications and treatments for each resident, using the medication observation record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
    • Document and initial forms as medications are given, including documentation for refusal or missed doses.
    • Maintain confidentiality of all resident information, including resident medication.
    • Report any resident concerns made while assisting with medication to the Nurse and/or Health Care Coordinator.
    • Restock medication carts after all medication passes.
    • Assist in checking medication, regardless of packaging system.
    • Count all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
    • Maintain and clean the Medication Room, med charts, treatment carts for neatness, cleanliness, availability of medications, and expired medications.
    • Follow the re-fill process for medications.
    • Participate in the development of the Service Plan and monthly updates.
    • Take and record temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse, and respiration rates.
    • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks, and hazardous chemicals immediately.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Medication Assistant certification
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • CPR certification preferred
  • First Aid certification preferred
  • Previous experience working with seniors preferred
