Emory Healthcare's 5T South ICU is a Surgical and Transplant ICU that offers a positive unit culture, a thorough competency-based orientation, and outstanding teamwork. Our unit provides a high standard of nursing care, runs CRRT in the OR for our Liver Transplant Patients, and has sustained a MARS (Liver Dialysis) Team since 2011.

Unit Details
  • Number of Beds: 23
  • Patient Population/Typical Diagnosis: Post-Surgical Abdominal and Surgical-Oncology patients, Pre-and Post-Liver Transplant patients, Thoracic and Vascular, GIB, and AHF, and those patients who require a higher level of care
  • Targeted Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2
Job Description

A skilled clinician with a sound understanding of the care of a particular patient population, capable of applying the Synergy Model for Care in practice. The ideal candidate will be able to personalize care for each patient/family, serve as a resource to colleagues, and consistently communicate effectively and respectfully with the patient, the patient's family, and other members of the healthcare team.

Responsibilities
  • Delivers safe, dependable, and effective care to a patient population independently utilizing the nursing process
  • Recognizes the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes and continues to recognize own performance limitations
  • Documents the nursing process accurately and in the appropriate format
  • Plans and implements patient care independently, utilizing patient/family input and goals in planning the plan of care
  • Evaluates patient's response to planned care and adjusts plan of care as appropriate
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • 12 months of recent nursing experience within the past five years or recent completion of a re-entry nursing program
  • Valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board
  • BLS certification required and ACLS may be required in designated departments
Physical and Environmental Demands
  • Medium-Heavy lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 20-35 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 10-20 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly)
  • Lifting 75 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 35 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking; Occasional sitting; Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing)
