Skilled Nursing Care - Administrator

Essential Qualifications

The Administrator should have:

  • A valid, unrestricted RCFE license in the state.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Health Administration is preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting such as a hospital or nursing home.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulations, procedures, and guidelines related to skilled nursing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, development, organization, implementation, evaluation, and direction of the facility's operations and programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and department heads to identify and monitor key performance indicators.
  • Evaluate performance outcomes and implement necessary actions to enhance regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction.
  • Work with the Business Office Manager to maintain the financial health of the facility.
  • Act as the facility's representative to the public and in professional settings, delivering clear and confident messages.
  • Lead management meetings to address priorities and develop solutions related to census, collections, and customer service.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, staff, and families through regular communication.
  • Assess the performance of department heads and ensure accountability across all departments.
  • Participate in various facility committees as needed.
  • Stay informed about nursing practices, regulations, and reimbursement processes.
  • Ensure the delivery of compassionate care through effective team collaboration.
  • Identify opportunities for service enhancement and issue resolution.
  • Recruit qualified individuals for department head positions.
  • Conduct rounds to observe resident care and ensure needs are met.
  • Promote teamwork and effective communication among staff.
  • Lead budget development and compliance meetings with department heads.
  • Review financial statements and provide insights to the governing board.
  • Prepare the facility for health inspections and ensure timely responses to any identified issues.
  • Communicate with residents, staff, and families to coordinate care and address concerns.
  • Manage facility risks and collaborate with insurance representatives in case of litigation.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes that may impact facility operations.
  • Encourage a culture of trust and safety among staff and residents.
  • Delegate responsibilities to staff as necessary.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure all residents are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Establish a culture of compliance with facility policies and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of health information.
  • Report any noncompliance or allegations of abuse to the appropriate authorities.
  • Participate in emergency drills and trainings.
  • Report work-related injuries immediately.
